Last St. Paul's United Methodist Pancake Breakfast for the season on Saturday, June 6
The next UMM pancake breakfast is Saturday, June 6th. This will be the last pancake breakfast until September. The net proceeds will be given to the St. Paul's Library. The serving hours are from 8:00 until 10:30 A.M.
As always, we love to see new faces both as workers and customers. If you’ve never attended one of these breakfasts, why not make this one? As a special treat, we'll be serving blueberry pancakes in addition to our regular pancakes. We also serve scrambled eggs, sausage, apple sauce or peaches, coffee, tea, hot chocolate and milk. You definitely won’t go away hungry!

READING/AUTHOR TALK
Richard Morris author of
Cologne No. 10 For Men
Thursday, June 18
7:30 pm
Kirkus states that in this novel, “A soldier in Vietnam invents a uniquely absurd solution to the horrors of war.…black humor…like Catch-22 or M.A.S.H.…A funny and serviceable satire about the gross rationalizations that propel war and peace."
Cologne No. 10 For Men weaves serious stories: a young rifle platoon leader who falls in love with a Vietnamese girl, whose gung ho spirit wanes in battle, and who is overcome by disillusionment; a heroic black point man torn between his desire to marry the Vietnamese mother of his child and the prospect of racial discrimination against them at home; a chaplain afflicted with PTSD; and a Viet Cong spy who plots against the American troops. Readers call it powerful - how war changes men - and hilarious, zany and wacky: “tactics that foil the army brass,” reliance on body counts to keep score and determine victory, army socialism vs. communism, the necessity for war - to test equipment, and more.
Richard Morris is a Maryland writer. Born in Pittsburgh, he received degrees from Haverford College and Harvard University and was a rifle platoon leader in Vietnam in 1967-68.

Armiger Jagoe author of
Light Reading for Good & Wayward Catholics
Thursday, June 11
7:30pm
In Light Reading for Good and Wayward Catholics, Jagoe has stomped in where angels fear to tread, and his book has both caused smiles and raised eyebrows across the country. Praised by three bishops, it has been snubbed by others. One reviewer wrote “Hats off to Mr. Jagoe who has done a magnificent job of honing in on those issues and topics that keep many wayward Catholics at arm’s length from the Church. This book is a quick, easy read that screams out to be sheared with others.”
One critic wrote, “Humor has no place in religion, and if I were the Pope, I’d excommunicate Jagoe.”
Rev. Joseph Marini, in Oakland, Ca, said, “I predict this book will make a valuable contribution to the Church of the future. It should be read by every Catholic.”
Armiger Jagoe is a Maryland writer and a Catholic convert. His history includes having flown bombing missions in WWII; an insurance career in Washington, DC; founding Bonabond, an organization for aiding ex-convicts; serving as president of the Salvation Army; and he is the author of five books.
