ST PAUL'S UNITED METHODIST CHURCH - PANCAKE BREAKFAST

Pancake Breakfast

Saturday, September 6th, St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Kensington will hold its monthly all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast from 8:00 - 10:30 AM. Proceeds will be given to the church music program and to the Discovery Weekend at the West River Center.

Cost: $5 adults, $2 children under 12, $15 family maximum. This will be the first pancake breakfast of the 2008-09 "season".

KENSINGTON PARK MOMS CLUB

Kensington Park MOMS Club (a national support group for mothers who primarily stay at home with their children) invites moms and their children to attend the monthly meeting Wednesday, August 27th at 10:15am at the Kensington Park Library, 4201 Knowles Ave, Kensington, MD 20895. The guest speaker will be Thyme Out's owner and chef, Missy Carr.

This MOMS club is open to moms whose children are zoned to attend Garrett Park ES and Kensington Parkwood ES. LITERACY TUTORS NEEDED

ROCKVILLE, MD – The Literacy Council of Montgomery County will hold information sessions for volunteers interested in helping adults learn to read, write, and speak English. No foreign language skills are necessary. Tutors work one-on-one or with small groups, and typically meet with students in libraries or community centers at mutually convenient times. Tutor orientations will be held at the Rockville Library on September 3 from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm and on September 8 from 10:30 am to noon. KENSINGTON ARTS THEATRE - ANNUAL FUNDRAISING GALA - SAT., AUGUST 23

KAT is proud to announce that our 7th Annual Fundraising Gala, set for Saturday, August 23rd, will be hosted by and starring KAT favorite Diego Prieto (Side Show, Cabaret, Closer Than Ever, The Rocky Horror Show, Company) and Brad Oscar, who originated the role of Franz Liebkind in the Broadway production of The Producers and received a 2001 Tony nomination for his performance. Brad later succeeded Nathan Lane as Max Bialystock for over 1200 performances on Broadway, on tour, in London, and he originated the role in the Las Vegas production at the Paris Casino.

Brad grew up in Rockville, MD and began his career at Adventure Theater, Rockville Musical Theatre, the JCC in Rockville, and Montgomery College Summer Dinner Theater. He is currently starring in The Mystery of Irma Vep at Arena Stage, and he recently appeared there as the Emcee in Cabaret and Mr. Applegate in Damn Yankees. We at KAT are thrilled to have Brad involved with our Gala this year. Thank you, Brad and Diego.
