B-CC HIGH SCHOOL THEATER PRESENTS "LEND ME A TENOR"

No need to beg, borrow or steal…

....when someone is willing to lend you one!

B-CC's casts and crew are putting the final touches on their Spring production, "Lend Me a Tenor," a COMEDY by Ken Ludwig, which will run March 7, 8, 14, and 15 at B-CC High School.

The scene of the show is the Cleveland Opera Company circa 1934. The star tenor is incapacitated but the show must go on! Desperate, the show's manager shoves his assistant, Max into the role. What follows is a chain-reaction of confusion, plot twists, double entendres, innuendos, and banging doors that would do the Marx Brothers proud.*

Show times: 7:30 p.m. on March 7, 8, 14 and 15 and a 2:00 p.m Matinee Saturday, March 8. Tickets are $9 for students and senior citizens and $12 for adults. Purchase them online from B-CC’s website www.bcctheater.com or call B-CC’s Box Office at 240-497-6346. OR JUST BUY THEM AT THE DOOR. B-CC High School, 4301 East-West Hwy., Bethesda, MD 20814

*This show is recommended for audiences 12 years old and up.

Kensington's Annual DAY OF THE BOOK Sunday, April 27th from 12:00 to 5:00 pm

Celebrate Books!

Kensington is hosting its fourth annual Day of the Book to celebrate everything about books. This event has something for everyone --- from leisure readers to avid collectors, children to adults --- making it a great event for families!

Activities include storytelling by the Twinbrook Tellers and an open-mic tent where writers and poets are invited to share their works. Collectors can bring their rare books for a free evaluation by Dale Sorenson of Waverly Book Auctions. Children can create and decorate their own books. There will also be a Washington Antiquarian Booksellers Association tent where attendees can browse and buy new and used books.

There will be live music by J.P. McDermott & Western Bop "Honky Tonk the way it should be" as well as Esther Haymes & Keith Grimes.

The Day of the Book is an organically grown event, started by local booksellers in Kensington, MD. It was inspired by the Festival of the Book and the Rose, a wildly popular event in Barcelona, Spain where bookstalls and festivities line the streets and people exchange a book for a rose noting that “a rose is for love, a book is forever.”

Kensington’s Day of the Book will be held, rain or shine, on Sunday, April 27th from 12:00 to 5:00 pm on Howard Avenue in historic Kensington, MD. Event and all activities are free. For more information and up to date listings of participants, visit www.dayofthebook.com.

Somerset Elementary School's Annual Book Sale

Somerset Used Book Sale: March 14 and 15

Somerset Elementary School's Annual Book Sale is set for Friday March
14 from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. and Saturday March 15 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00
p.m. in the All Purpose Room at the school.

All donations to the Used Book Sale (children and adult books, videos,
games, audio tapes, CDs, DVDs) will be accepted on the stage of the
APR starting Monday, March 10 through Thursday, March 13 and should be
packed in strong cardboard boxes or double bagged in paper bags.
During the week of the sale, we always need lots of volunteers to sort
books, and we need help at the sale itself. For Westland and BCC
students, it̢۪s a good and easy way to earn community service hours.
For additional information, please call Cathleen Leipold at 301 657
1946 or Elizabeth Hurwit at 301 652 0608.
