Kensington's Annual DAY OF THE BOOK Sunday, April 27th from 12:00 to 5:00 pm

Celebrate Books!

Kensington is hosting its fourth annual Day of the Book to celebrate everything about books. This event has something for everyone --- from leisure readers to avid collectors, children to adults --- making it a great event for families!

Activities include storytelling by the Twinbrook Tellers and an open-mic tent where writers and poets are invited to share their works. Collectors can bring their rare books for a free evaluation by Dale Sorenson of Waverly Book Auctions. Children can create and decorate their own books. There will also be a Washington Antiquarian Booksellers Association tent where attendees can browse and buy new and used books.

There will be live music by J.P. McDermott & Western Bop "Honky Tonk the way it should be" as well as Esther Haymes & Keith Grimes.

The Day of the Book is an organically grown event, started by local booksellers in Kensington, MD. It was inspired by the Festival of the Book and the Rose, a wildly popular event in Barcelona, Spain where bookstalls and festivities line the streets and people exchange a book for a rose noting that “a rose is for love, a book is forever.”

Kensington’s Day of the Book will be held, rain or shine, on Sunday, April 27th from 12:00 to 5:00 pm on Howard Avenue in historic Kensington, MD. Event and all activities are free. For more information and up to date listings of participants, visit www.dayofthebook.com.
