St. Paul's Pancake Breakfast

The next UMM pancake breakfast is this Saturday, February 2nd. The net
proceeds will be given to the St. Paul's Educational Awards Fund. The
hours of the breakfast are from 8:00 until 10:30 A.M. As a special treat and in recognition of Black History Month, we'll be serving hoecakes (a traditional Southern cornmeal pancake that are supposed to have been so-named because they were originally cooked on the blade of a hoe over an open fire) in addition to our usual pancakes. Help is needed in the kitchen, the serving line and Heavener Hall. Thankfully, some extra helpers showed up for the December and January breakfasts which both had large
turnouts of customers. If you can help, we can use you anytime from around
7:00 AM (for setting up) until around 11:00 (for clean up). Don't feel that you have to stay for the entire period, although that's great if you can.
If you can only work for an hour or so, that's fine also.
As always, we love to see new faces both as workers and customers. If you've never attended one of these breakfasts, why not make this one? In addition to the delicious pancakes, we also serve scrambled eggs, sausage, apple sauce or peaches, coffee, tea, hot chocolate and milk. You definitely won't go away hungry!

Background:
A NEW BRAIN is the musical story of a composer who dreams of greatness, but finds himself stuck writing songs for the egomaniacal host of a children's television show. When it is discovered he has a brain tumor, the composer must cope with the possibility that his best work may remain unwritten while also dealing with his oppressive mother, his distant lover, his frustrated best friend, and a demanding 6-foot frog. A semi-autobiographical piece written by William Finn (FALSETTOS), and first produced at Lincoln Center in 1998, A NEW BRAIN showcases brilliant music, a witty book and expressive lyrics.
