************************
Kensington, Maryland – The Learning Center for Young Children (LCYC) will host its 18th annual Winterfest Children’s Carnival on Saturday, February 2nd, 2008. Winterfest will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Warner Memorial Presbyterian Church, located at 10123
Connecticut Avenue, in the heart of historic Kensington, Maryland.

This wonderful family event will feature acclaimed local entertainer Frank Cassel, who is known to Washington D.C. area kids as “The Banjo Man.” The Banjo Man will perform three strolling banjo shows during
the carnival (at 10:30 a.m., 11:15 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.), featuring lively bluegrass, folk and children’s songs. Banjo Man tickets are $3.00 each, and his CD will be available for purchase after the show.

Winterfest offers families a fun-filled afternoon with all sorts of activities for children of all ages, including a MOON BOUNCE, CARNIVAL GAMES, FACE PAINTING and CRAFTS. Tickets for these activities are $.50 cents each. In addition, Winterfest’s annual SILENT AUCTION is a favorite of local parents. The auction offers a
unique opportunity to receive bargain prices on a wide range of items and events -- from dinners at local restaurants, golf lessons, vacations, sporting event tickets and much more. There will also be a 50/50 raffle.

Delicious home-made Valentine-themed desserts will be available for purchase at Winterfest’s BAKE SALE, and lunch will be provided by Armand’s Pizza.

*WINTERFEST’S SNOW DATE IS SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 9th*
