WOMAN'S CLUB OF CHEVY CHASE - 48TH ANNUAL ANTIQUES SHOW
The Woman’s Club of Chevy Chase (Maryland) will hold its 48th annual Antiques Show on Friday and Saturday, September 5th and 6th. Over 30 exhibitors from 11 states and the District of Columbia are featured at its clubhouse at 7931 Connecticut Avenue, Chevy Chase, Maryland 20815. Hours are 11 – 7 Friday and 10 – 4 Saturday. Sloans & Kenyon, Washington’s premier auction house, will sponsor the event, for which Connie Morella, former congresswoman, will serve as honorary chair. The Club is celebrating its 95th year. Admission $10, $9 with mailed postcard; proceeds benefit local community service organizations. For further information, call 301-652-8480.

Kensington Park MOMS Club (a national support group for mothers who primarily stay at home with their children) invites moms and their children to attend the monthly meeting Wednesday, July 30th at 10:15am at the Garrett Park Pool, 4427 Cambria Avenue, Garrett Park, MD 20896. Admission to the pool is $4 for adults and $3 per child.
This MOMS club is open to moms whose children are zoned to attend Kensington Parkwood ES and Garrett Park ES. The group's activities include trips to parks, lunch and coffee get-togethers, playgroups and more. More information is available at www.kensingtonparkmoms.com or you may email kpmomsclub@yahoo.com

The StarryTelling Festival
Discover the Galileo in You!
Next year has been proclaimed the International Year of Astronomy --
it's been 400 years since Galileo started to use the telescope to
discover and record the heavens.
We decided to start celebrating a little early in Kensington Maryland
this summer and we invite you to join us in the festivities. It will
take place on July 18, 19, and 20. There is no admission fee. Free
performances and activities for the whole family all weekend. The
Town of Kensington is one of the sponsors.
Friday, July 18, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. -- The Festival Launch in the
Kensington Town Hall/Armory Building at 3710 Mitchell Street. You’re
invited to enter the realm of astronomy and space exploration at a
hometown family storytelling festival. In an exciting interactive
performance as Galileo, The Starry Messenger, Mike Francis will
introduce you to all that Galileo discovered four centuries ago. Lynn
Moroney, a skylore specialist and Native American storyteller will
tell stories from many cultures.
Saturday, July 19 from 2-10 p.m. -- Lots of free hands-on activities,
storytelling events, and other fun in indoor and outdoor locations in
Kensington. Features include tales from Tanzania to China,
constellation dancers from India , a magician who defies gravity, an
inflatable planetarium, authors, a space history illustrator,a NASA
scientist who’ll teach to you make a comet, a robot and a rocket
launch. Activities are geared for all ages, including adults!
Sunday, July 20, from 2-4 p.m. -- Workshops on storytelling
techniques, for parents, middle and high school students, and
educators. Plus other interactive workshops -- Mime, Music, and more.
